CLASS PRESENTATIONS

You will be expected to give a 20 minute presentation to the class. You can work alone or with a partner - if you choose to work with a partner, make sure the work is divided evenly. I will pass out a sign-up sheet in the beginning of the semester, and you will choose your desired date for your presentation. Please check in with me to make sure your desired topic is OK, and to go over any questions about executing your presentation. CHOOSE FROM OPTION 1 or OPTION 2.

OPTION 1: TECHNIQUE DEMONSTRATION + RELATED WORK OF ART

For this presentation you will be expected to choose a technique or tool in Lightroom, Photoshop, or related to your camera to share with the class. I will provide a list of suggested topics - making a website in Lightroom, an animation in Photoshop, using different lenses on your camera, etc. You don’t have to select something off my provided list, but you must clear your idea with me beforehand. Watch online tutorials on the topic, research artists that have worked with your chosen technique, and make at least one work of art using the technique you’ve learned about.
In addition to giving a 20 minute presentation on your selected technique, you must also make a one page handout (can be sent digitally) to give to the class on the day of your presentation. Be prepared to share the work of art YOU MADE during your presentation.

OPTION 2: ARTIST PRESENTATION + REPORT

Using one of the artists from the 10 ARTISTS reviews we have been doing in class turn in a 400-500 word written report on the artist, and give a thoughtful presentation on the artist’s work to the class. The presentation should be approximately 20 minutes. Sharing photographic works of the artist is mandatory (at least 20 examples of work). You can also choose to show some of your work and how it relates to the artist’s work, or other artists who worked similarly to your chosen artist.
The written report should:
Outline who the artist is (age, background, current status)
Outline the scope of their work (what media do they use, how is the work shown, what are there     notable accomplishments?)
Focus on one body of work (what is the works purpose, how is it unique, what is the artist trying to do with there images, what are they saying about the subject?)
Describe in detail a particular technique or approach to photographing the artist uses that you would like to learn yourself.
In the paper you must cite at least TWO BOOKS, and any other physical publication of the artist's work (respectable websites, video, catalog from show, newspaper article, etc).
